Time Passing

Well a week after the last post, my hometown was struck by an earthquake bringing my city to its knees.

Prior to this, I had been going to post on the dynamics of changing the desks and tables around in a classroom and the scaffolding of tasks for students. I was also thinking about teaching two classes at the same year level how similar and yet, how different they can be.

This now seems less important when many people are struggling without power, water and heating. My school day is now condensed from 8am -12:35pm which impacts on family life as well as curriculum delivery and prior to the April holidays everyone just seemed so exhausted.

Reflection on pedogogy is still happening but the tide is changing and you must wonder what is coming around the corner.

Digital Literacy

The image below is a succinct summary of Digital Literacy. It does make me wonder if our students are getting all that this model offers.

DigiGogy

This term and all that it encompasses seems to be where I am at with my teaching  If you're wondering what digigogy is here's a good definition:

What is DIGIGOGY?

Digigogy is a paradigm shift.

Where pedagogy is about methods to instruct, Digigogy is about those methods, but with a technological frame. From hardware to software, from tech ed theory to application, Digigogy is about reframing our methods in the future of instruction. The new way of learning is a complete tear down and rebuild of traditional teaching, where learning is a joint effort and roles are reborn. Beyond the desks...beyond the walls...beyond the school. The new classroom is orbital, and scenic, and here.

This, I find, really interesting.

Reflect...NOW!!

I reflect quite a bit on my teaching but usually it's on my way to school, waiting at the lights or when I can grab a moment of quiet in my life of juggling work, partner and children.
My self-imposed challenge this year, is to formalise my reflection and the links I've found that influence my pedogogy...taling the time to "Pause for Pedogogy"!
